Warm Stuffed Dates
Sometimes, the simplest recipes are the most irresistible. These Warm Stuffed Dates are composed of three simple ingredients but are the richest, tastiest appetizer you can have. I came up with this idea when I was brainstorming what to cook for Thanksgiving, and I cannot underscore how delicious these were. They are a perfect example of how minimalism in the kitchen can yield the maximum flavor.
Now you may be asking, “How does this dish work?”. Medjool dates, with their naturally sweet and caramel-like flavor, make for the perfect vessel for a nutty yet savory filling. When baked, the flavor they bring only gets enhanced and when combined with raw cheddar cheese and toasted walnuts, a rich, creamy, and tangy contrast is added. When showcasing all of these flavor profiles together, there is perfect harmony.
Ingredients: (there are no measurements for this recipe - make as many as you’d like!)
Medjool Dates, pitted
raw cheddar cheese cut into small chunks or slices
walnuts, roasted
Instructions:
Slice each date lengthwise and remove the pit to create a pocket for the filling.
Place a piece of raw cheddar cheese inside each date, ensuring it is snug.
Top the cheese with a toasted walnut half.
Arrange the stuffed dates on a baking tray and place them in a preheated oven at 350 F for 5-7 minutes, just until the cheese begins the melt and the dates are warm.
Serve as an appetizer, a savory-sweet snack, or even a dessert!
